Courtney Marr of Welland celebrated her 9th birthday on February 11th with a party but NO gifts!!! Courtney asked her guests to donate to The Hope Centre in memory of Julia Turner in lieu of presents. Over $300 was donated! The future looks bright with young people like Courtney in our community!

6th Annual Golf for Hope held on May 27, 2011 at Lochness Links raised $8500 for The Hope Centre.

The Grade 6 students at Quaker Road School had an Art Auction in June to raise funds for The Hope Centre. In the picture is Noah Stickney representing the Grade 6 class, handing the $214.51 the students raised at their Art Auction to Jackie Marr (Development Office at The Hope Centre).

The Welland /Port Colborne branch of ORMTA (Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association) held a Fundraising Concert on Saturday April 16 2011 at the Faith Tabernacle Church in Welland. Many students of the branch members performed piano and vocal numbers. There were also several guest performers such as the Notre Dame High School Jazz Band, The Holy Cross Rock Ensemble, and Welland’s own Barb Mantini entertained us with a lovely vocal performance. All proceeds from the concert were shared with the Hope Centre and ORMTA. ORMTA’s portion will be used to fund student scholarships and recitals. Many thanks to the parents and volunteers who tirelessly support their children, ORMTA and the Hope Centre.

The Block Party 4 Hope ended on Sunday night just before the big down pour. Luck was on our side - we couldn't have asked for better weather last weekend. We would like to thank everyone for their support and we hope all of you had a good time. Will be posting some pictures of the event soon.
